Selling an accounting software online requires the perfect competitive quality of a product, the advanced features to attract the right audience and to satisfy them with their specific needs.
Those three mentioned points are the basic things that you should keep in mind and consider when designing an accounting software for a small business.
Reason being that, customers often look for a software that stands out from the rest. An accounting software that will help them run and manage their businesses efficiently.

There are five different ways in which a seller can attract a large number of customers:
1. Offer a free software demo
Offering a demo is the most practiced and common form of marketing. In fact, it is something you should do when you are new to the market and you want to build your name (or a reputable brand). And of course, when you want to attract the right customers.
The software demo should have all the features the ‘pro version’ accounting software has (if there’s any pro version). You can also add a few restrictions (like limiting the number a certain feature can be used) on the demo version, if necessary.
However, the best way to go about everything, is by offering a full access to the software’s features for a certain period of time.
This certain period of time is referred to as a ‘trial period’. After that period, customers should then be given an option to upgrade or pay to continue using the accounting software.
Customers will then have to make a decision after the trial period (and even during the trial period) to continue using the software and buy it or not. If you are lucky, they will even leave their reviews, comments or feedback about the accounting software – which is a win too.
As you can then consider their feedback and make necessary changes or improvements on the software.
Positive reviews and comments will definitely encourage other customers to try your software. Don’t get tempted though and hire people to write fake reviews or anything like that, it will backfire!
Tip: Make sure to reply to every review or comment. By ‘every’ I mean even the bad or negative ones.
2. Offer the money back guarantee
In cases where the customer is not satisfied with the accounting software he or she should be able or allowed to get a full refund.
However, for both parties and to be fair, the customer should be aware that the refund guarantee will be allowed if a certain period of time has not passed.
The certain period of time can be seven (7) to thirty (30) days from day of purchase. The money back guarantee offer is known to encourage customers to try and buy a product or software.
3. 24/7 customer support services
Customers should be able to reach out to you about any issues and queries they may have; at any time of the day and still get a response. However, since it is not possible to deal with customers face to face on a daily basis. There are certain ways you can ‘be there’ for them.
Technology has really made things easier. Anyway, you can let your customers reach out to you via Email, Skype, Facebook or Twitter accounts and even by a phone call. Your customers’ feedback shouldn’t be ignored on any day and should be taken serious.
4. A phone number on your website and other forms of communication
It should be easy for customers to contact you about any issues or queries they may have. Including a phone number on your website is a must but, must not be the only way customers can reach you.
Thing is, some people don’t like phone calls and you can’t help your customers with technical issues on the phone. Customer’s satisfaction should be your top priority and that means customers should be assisted in their preferred form of communication.
5. Include a video of how the software works. Have a short tutorial or something.
I’m sure you knew this and for obvious reasons, right? The tutorial or video should not be too long. The length of the video should be one-to-two minutes, clearly detailing the software and its features. Make sure to mention what the software does, how helpful it is, how it will make a person’s life easier and all those things.
The video should cover everything about the software and its features. The easier it is to understand the software, the better. Trust me, the last thing you want is a confused customer.
Putting the above points into action enhances the potential of sales. How you present and market the accounting software will have serious effect and determine how successful it can be.
